Equity Now & Beyond
Equity Now & Beyond is an immigrant health equity cohort that is coordinated by Center to Support Immigrant Organizing and led by grassroots immigrant groups: Brazilian Women’s Group (BWG), African Community Economic Development of New England (ACEDONE), Haitian Americans United (HAU) along with its sister Haitian partner Immigrant Family Services Institute (IFSI), and Agencia ALPHA.
EN&B brings these communities together to address the Covid crisis now and build greater health equity ‘beyond’ Covid. Each grassroots community group is led by, serves, and organizes its immigrant constituents in their native language. Groups integrate EN&B health equity organizing into an array of community supports and programs that address the social and structural determinants of health – immigration advocacy, worker rights, youth organizing, women’s leadership development, housing advocacy, community economic development, and more.
Because many of the members of our Haitian, Brazilian, Latinx and African communities are undocumented or otherwise immigration vulnerable, we design Covid and other health equity strategies that are transparent and ensure community safety, trust and confidence. Communities know that our activities will not jeopardize their immigration status or hopes. See our updated calendar of Covid vaccine clinics that EN&B is organizing.
